Months ago I sat in my car and cried. I cried tears of frustration at being ignored by EVERY shop in my local shopping centre. As a mum of four with a rockin’ rack and wobbly waistline I feel like a giant in a doll house when I dare to shop. Things are tight and cling in all the wrong places. I LOVE fashion, but fashion didn’t seem to love me back and so I stopped shopping.

That all changed when I Insta-met Mel from Evergreen Clothing. Instagram is where all great meetings happen right? Mel, who is the mum babe behind Evergreen Clothing called to ask me to be a real mum model for her. A size 16/18 mum-bod model? “Hell YES!”

I loaded up the mum bus with my best beige knickers (hashtag model life) and headed down to the spectacular Mornington Peninsula to be part of the Evergreen shoot at South Beach Project in Mt Martha. The views were Ahhhhhhmazing, much better than my suburban streetscape. Shining brighter than the beach view was the supportive team I found when I arrived at the shoot. Creative women + cool clothes = KILLER combo.

Enough about the location and my choice of underwear, you’re here for THE CLOTHES right? If you follow me on social media you no doubt know my deep love of colour and the Evergreen team had my rainbow loving heart a flutter with a swag of cute colours for the day.

Hello Yellow
I kissed the endless black of Melbourne winter goodbye in this curved hem Sally Knit. The soft, buttery yellow was giving all the sunflower vibes and with a matching headband I was positively shining. Jeans and a longline Zoe Leopard Cardi tied this whole look together for the perfect casual combo.

Rust Rocks
Orange LOVES my red hair so I was crushing BIG TIME when I met the Deliah Top. Tied up over the Madison Tank White to accentuate my waistline. Yes, even thick waisted ladies like me can use this trick to create shape. Add the Tash Longline Cardi in khaki and I am Autumn personified.

Pretty in Pink
Dusty pink and purple print gives this gorgeous Serena Top all the boho vibes. Those bell sleeves and cute tassel detail make for a bonadfide Byron Bay worthy blouse. Worn with light wash Taylor Mum Jeans and a Khaki Newhaven Jumper  tied at the waist this colour combo has ticks all the boho babe boxes.

Perfect Prints
As if all that rainbow colour wasn’t enough, this Jeanie Shirt brings all my print dreams to life. The soft V neckline is so flattering for my large bust and the print is just so pretty. Wearing the Khloe Ink Wash High Rise Jeans and Tash Cardi allows the shirt to shine. Print perfection.

Deep Green and The Magnificent Maxi:
I’m not going to lie. This outfit was a firm fave. I rarely wear maxi skirts thanks to the long leg/short hem combo that leaves my ankles out in the cold. Enter, the Piper Leopard Skirt. This skirt has the length, drape and movement that every girl dreams of. Worn with the asymmetrical Arti Knit and my own belt I felt like a million bucks in this combo that costs less than $120.

Jog On:
Finally, I slipped my plus size self into the bestselling Jenni Joggers and fell instantly in comfort LOVE! These joggers are the perfect point between jeans and tracksuit pants. Dressy enough for everyday outings but comfy enough to feel like you left the house in your PJs. With a range of colours and SIZING UP TO A 22 these joggers deliver the fabulous, fashionable fun that Evergreen Clothing is known for.

As I drove away from the beach I felt so happy. Happy that Evergreen Clothing seen women in my size and actually gone out of their way to create clothing for us and show it on a plus size mum bod. Anyone over size 14 who has had a car, change room or ‘coming home empty handed’ cry knows the pain of being excluded from fashion. So you know just how incredible it felt to ACTUALLY FIT into everything I tried on at Evergreen Clothing. Happiness is… beautiful clothes that fit.
