I love being a Mum and seeing different versions of myself and feeling that unfailing love that is so hard to express!.. You know the one I mean? I don’t love the lack of sleep, date nights are few and far between and I can’t wrap my head around why I just can’t think the same way anymore, my brain thinking power has changed… just slightly!
Since having a child, I lost a great deal of who I am, and my body changes really impacted my view of myself. I was so overwhelmed with all the changes. Getting ready in 15 minutes is my new norm and I don’t change my handbag very often but I rotate my earrings daily to help me achieve my sexy and elegant style… because who doesn’t love earrings!
I have now learnt to embrace my body, and love myself hence I decided to do this photoshoot! I didn’t even practice my pose, I naturally pose like this *wink*. Who has time to practise anything! I was running around with kids and opting for roast chicken from woolies for dinner as I juggled work and mum life the week of the shoot!
Speaking of juggling things let me tell you about the morning of the shoot the morning when it was my time to shine (well that’s what I thought in my mind)...my partner took my car keys accidentally, so I was stranded with bub and it’s 8am, and I’m meant to be at the shoot for 9am, located in Mornington which is about 50 minutes away. So I did what any Mum does.. get on with it, keep the train moving MAKE IT HAPPEN.. I pushed the pram to childcare in my sweats, jumped in an Uber to Mornington and did a quick mental prep in my head, totally didn’t think about the price of a 50 minute Uber ride. Yes it was an expensive ride! But very worthwhile.
I was passionate about being involved in a photoshoot for a brand that is striving to cater for women of all sizes. The clothes at Evergreen suited my body and gave me a great sense of confidence.
If I had to shortlist some of my MUST have pieces from the day here is what I would decide. This was a tough choice!
A little leopard goes a long way! All of my beloved pieces are leopard and this Cameron Top was a real winner. I loved how it could be tied up, tucked in or left out. Layered with the Eclipse Kimono in Moss Green and paired with the Frenchie Denim which were a great fit. We slung the Tayla Bag over my shoulder and slipped me into the Riley Slides. This is an easy everyday outfit that I felt really comfortable in for weekday or weekend!
Must have mustard in a ham & cheese roll and in your wardrobe this spring! The Tilly Shirt is a staple cut for Evergreen. The print is not quite spots not quite animal print and the not quite spots are actually navy. The V-neck is very flattering and the shirt falls really nicely on your body.
Spring has sprung when dresses like this are available.
Daria Dress was an instant winner with the free flowing feel, the off the shoulder cut and the print! I loved how we styled it with a jumper around my waist and sneakers and then changed it to Payton Slides and a cute bag.. I was really thinking how I could swing a day to the races and wear this dress! Who can I get to babysit!?
Work to weekend! Lani Shirt is a multipurpose top for your wardrobe! I could easily wear this at work (when I am not modelling *wink*) and then style it up for a date night or girls lunch! Paired with the Danni Denim which I just feel super cool in! Love the rips and the wash... and obviously the fit was spot on.
I felt right at home on the shoot day and loved the energy and vibe the Evergreen team brought all day. The brand is so in line with my overall purpose as a Mum - to empower my daughter for her to love her body and who she is as a woman. Love your body, buy the clothes and be proud. My husband certainly is! He was sending my photos to everyone, he was so proud…. And you know what… I am too!
